Watching my suddenly fallen best friend, I realized it was too late for everything.

Zhou Yan’s wrench struck fiercely on my best friend's head once more.

I stood there in a daze, seemingly forgetting how to breathe.

I saw a large indentation form on my best friend's head, with blood and brain matter spilling out in torrents.

Slowly, it spread to my feet.

Her eyes were wide open, looking in my direction, and her fingers were twitching slightly, as if begging me for help.

I saw Zhou Yan pull a small axe from his sleeve, gripping it expertly.

He looked expressionlessly at Cheng Wen on the ground.

I leaned against the wall by the door, paralyzed with fear, my mouth open wide but unable to make a sound.

My legs gave way, and I slid to the floor, my hands soaked with the warm blood pooling there.

Still warm.

I knelt down, trembling, wanting to hold Cheng Wen, but didn't dare to touch her easily, and tears began to fall uncontrollably.

From the corner of my eye, I saw the axe in Zhou Yan's hand. I positioned myself to shield my best friend and looked up at Zhou Yan, my eyes full of fear and pleading.

Finally, Zhou Yan raised the axe.

In my panic and desperation, I tightly hugged Zhou Yan’s leg, and I heard my own trembling voice:

"No!!! Zhou Yan, Uncle, I beg you! Please don't kill my friend! Call 120 and save my friend! I swear! I swear we won't call the police, we won't tell anyone!”

Zhou Yan's lips curled into a cold smile: "I told you not to run? What were you doing just now? If I hadn’t received the spy alert and came back, where would you be now? The police station? Huh?!"

Zhou Yan's voice suddenly rose, and I shrank back in terror!

"She deserved to die! Do you know that your husband didn't come home because of her, and it eventually led to your divorce!" Zhou Yan’s wild words left me dumbfounded for a moment.

My good best friend, with whom I shared everything, was the culprit who broke up my family? How is that possible?

But Zhou Yan spoke with such certainty.

His words echoed in my mind, and it took me a while to come to my senses.

I looked at the axe inexplicably clenched in my hand and the dying Cheng Wen lying beside me.

Terrified, I threw the axe away, my lips trembling as I cried out in despair. I begged Zhou Yan to spare Cheng Wen—even if she ruined my family, she didn’t deserve to die.

"Rong Rong, she betrayed your friendship and simultaneously betrayed your marriage with your ex-husband. They've been toying with you like a fool for two years! Both scumbags deserve to die!”

As he finished, Zhou Yan swung the axe down, embedding it precisely into Cheng Wen’s skull.

Cheng Wen twitched one last time, then lay still.

My pupils contracted sharply, and I stared wide-eyed at the scene. I couldn’t catch my breath and lay dazed in the pool of blood, eventually passing out.

In my final moments of consciousness, I vaguely heard Zhou Yan’s sinister voice: "This is the fate of betrayal!"
