I feel like a fool.

With just a joke from him, I could come out in the middle of the night and be swallowed by the cold wind by the riverside.

His friend's voice came through the phone again.

"Yange, this girl of yours is really something, calling her out in the dead of night. Will you introduce her to us in the future?"

"Seriously, Yange, you really don't know how to cherish someone. Playing a game of truth or dare, you had to choose dare to call the girl out. Now the girl can't see you, she must be heartbroken!"

I let them mock me like a clown, staring at the pitch-black river, feeling my throat tighten and my nose tingle with tears.

Just as I was about to hang up the phone, Luyan said to me, "Don't hang up. Share your location, I'll come pick you up."

What does that mean?

Slap in the face followed by a candy?

Or do they think I'm easy to fool, falling for the same trick twice?

"Yeah, wouldn't she freeze to death?"

"Let's stop here, we've had our fun, let the girl go back."

After a pause, Luyan asked me again, "Cat got your tongue? Say something."

I clenched my fist, gritted my teeth, and said, "I'm hanging up."

"Hang up on me and see what happens!" Luyan suddenly got angry for some reason.

I was already frail, and with the wind blowing, I felt cold sweat breaking out on my body.

My throat felt itchy, and I coughed softly.

Luyan didn't reply to my question but asked me, "Are you coughing? Is it very windy outside? Are you cold?"

"Is it useful to tell you?" I retorted.

That night, I really waited for him, but I waited for a very long time, and he never came.
