In a village outside Luoyang City, a vanguard of An Lushan's forces ambushed a reconnaissance team of the Tang army and surrounded the remaining Tang scout.

Although the scout had only one arm, he was extraordinarily brave. After realizing that he couldn't escape the enemy's encirclement, he drew his sword and charged, beheading seven rebel knights in a row. No one dared to engage him in combat. The rebel leader ordered archers to shoot at the scout, but he skillfully parried the crossbow bolts. He then broke through the rebel formation and killed two archers.

An Lushan's army had wizards skilled in sorcery who frequently abducted young boys and girls to refine magical artifacts and pills. Shaking his skull-shaped artifact and bells, the wizard released a dark smoke. The scout's horse began bleeding from its mouth and nose, and when it fell, it was covered in maggots.

The rebels rejoiced and surrounded the scout from all sides, waiting for the wizard to cast a spell and kill him. They took advantage of his one-armed condition, thinking he couldn't shoot a bow. The rebels cheered and made noise, urging each other on, tightening the encirclement.

To their surprise, the scout removed a tall bow from the dead horse, planted it firmly in the ground, and held it steady with one foot while pulling the bowstring with one hand. A thunderous explosion resounded in the air, and the wizard's head burst into a bloody mess as he fell to the ground.

The wizard's curse also severely injured the scout. After shooting that arrow, black blood flowed from his seven orifices, but he managed to remain standing, supporting himself with the tall bow. The setting sun turned blood-red, and the surrounding area was ablaze with war. The tattered flag of the Tang army was planted askew on the ground. The scout stood, and behind him in the distance was the outline of Luoyang City, with the distant sound of a clear bugle.

The rebels waited for a while, but there was no movement. Brave enough, they cautiously approached and prodded the scout with their spears, only to discover that the courageous scout had been dead for quite some time. He had killed ten enemies, including the wizard, and prevented the enemy from pillaging the nearby villages.

The furious rebel leader ordered his men to disembowel the scout and cook his organs. Still unsatisfied, he commanded a few soldiers to bring a large stone and stuff it into the scout's belly. One of the soldiers found a waist token engraved with the characters "Shan Hai," but he couldn't read. Since the item was neither gold nor jade, he casually threw it into the scout's belly.

A group of cannibalistic demons smirked as they quickly stitched up the scout's bloodless abdomen and carried the body to a nearby river. However, the body floated instead of sinking, seemingly mocking their foolishness.

The rebel leader flew into a rage and ordered his men to shoot arrows and turn the body into a hedgehog. But despite the rain of arrows, none hit the body; they all fell into the river.

A suffocating fear permeated the vanguard of the rebel forces. Someone timidly suggested, "Let's ignore this cursed corpse and directly attack the village, pillaging and killing. We can deal with the body later."

The bloodthirsty mood gradually spread among the rebel soldiers, and most of them immediately agreed with the proposal. Instead of confronting a lifeless body, they preferred to engage in more fitting and profitable activities befitting rebel soldiers.

Suddenly, a sentry let out a shrill scream, and the rebels felt a chill coming from the riverside. They saw the once-dead body move, stepping on the water and rushing onto the shore, still holding the half-bloodied sword he had severed in battle.

Frost filled the air as the scout appeared as a resurrected blood-red war god. Wherever he passed, a path of frost was left behind, and vegetation withered and died. The rebels froze one by one, bleeding from their seven orifices, maintaining their pre-death postures as they perished from the cold.

The entire vanguard of the rebel forces was wiped out, and the village temporarily escaped disaster.
