From Jiang Ziya, the Si Bu Xiang heard about these past events and couldn't help but sigh. He knew that although the gods and buddhas were said to be omnipotent, Jiang Ziya couldn't survive because no one would save him.

Jiang Ziya asked Si Bu Xiang to leave him because he was about to pass away, in the last years of his life, but Si Bu Xiang could cultivate into an immortal.

Si Bu Xiang couldn't bear to leave and stayed by Jiang Ziya's side. After Jiang Ziya's oil ran out and the candle extinguished, Si Bu Xiang rammed into a wall and died, accompanying Jiang Ziya. However, he was stopped by Di Zang Bodhisattva.

Di Zang Bodhisattva had been silently watching them and admired Si Bu Xiang's loyalty. So, he said to Si Bu Xiang, "I can resurrect Jiang Ziya, but he lacks innate divine bones, so we must rely on you."

Si Bu Xiang listened and immediately kowtowed to Di Zang, who said, "Although doing this can save Jiang Ziya, from now on, there will be no more Jiang Ziya."

Si Bu Xiang didn't understand.

Di Zang explained, "I can merge you two into one, but from now on, there will be no more Jiang Ziya or Si Bu Xiang. You will exist in a different state within the Three Realms."

"A different state?"

"Yes."

"A state that can listen to the voices of all things."

"Why are you helping us?" Si Bu Xiang was curious.

Di Zang smiled and said, "There are two reasons. First, because Jiang Ziya and I are very similar."

"Similar?"

"I wanted to become a Buddha at the time, so I made a bet with Buddha. I said that if there were no more unjust souls in the underworld, then I would go to the Western Paradise. But as long as there were unjust souls in the underworld, I would stay in the underworld and never leave."

When Di Zang made this vow, even the gods and buddhas were moved by his spirit, and even though people now worship the Buddha, the phrase "If I don't go to hell, who will?" has long been known to the world.

"What happened later? Why have you always been in the underworld? Are there always unjust souls in the underworld?"

"Do you know why I said Jiang Ziya and I are very similar? It's because we both crossed the line set by the rule makers." Di Zang said, "The reason Jiang Ziya couldn't become a god was because he believed that Primordial Supreme would make him the Jade Emperor, but in Primordial Supreme's rules, Jiang Ziya can never be the Jade Emperor, so he was left with no choice. And like him, I also crossed the rules."

"What rule did you cross?"

"I made a bet with Tathagata Buddha about how to define unjust souls."

"What does that mean?"

"As long as he says that there are still unjust souls in this world, I will stay in the underworld," Di Zang smiled and said, "Do you know about Mu Lian rescuing his mother?"

"Yes," Si Bu Xiang said, "Mu Lian's mother disrespected the Buddha and was punished in hell. Later, Mu Lian's filial piety moved heaven, and he did many good deeds to repay his mother's offenses. In the end, his mother was able to leave the underworld."

"Mu Lian did good deeds, but Mu Lian's mother did evil deeds." Di Zang said, "Mu Lian's mother did wrong and never repented, but she was able to leave the underworld because of her son's merits. So, is Mu Lian's mother considered an unjust soul? Yes or no?"

Si Bu Xiang didn't know how to answer.

Jiang Ziya disappeared, Si Bu Xiang disappeared, and in their place was a new life. Nobody knew whether he was a human, a demon, a god, or an evil spirit of the underworld.

He himself didn't know.

Di Zang bestowed upon him the ability to listen to the voices of all things and gave him a new name.

His name was Di Ting.
