The saints are the same.

Yuan Shi Tianzun, Tai Shang Lao Jun, Tong Tian Jiao Zhu, the three of them divided the world.

Later on, the three of them started to accept disciples, and under each person's command, there was a group of disciples and grandchildren.

These people, like the saints, absorb the essence of heaven, earth, sun, and moon, and occupy a piece of land.

Over time, the three saints discovered something.

If these disciples and grandchildren also become saints, then how should the world be divided?

The Dao gives birth to one, one gives birth to two, two gives birth to three, and three gives birth to all things.

If those disciples and grandchildren become saints, won't the world be divided among tens of thousands of people?

So, the three of them came up with a plan to prevent their disciples and grandchildren from reaching the same level as them, the realm of saints.

To accommodate these people, they established a new department called the Heavenly Court.

The Heavenly Court is under the management of the Jade Emperor, and various immortals are also appointed around it. All their disciples and grandchildren must become immortals in the Heavenly Court.

Disciples with high cultivation can become saints, but these saints are just a higher level of immortals. They can disobey the Jade Emperor's orders, but they can never cultivate to the level of the three saints.

This plan is called the "Enfeoffment of Gods".

The three saints also used their magical powers to create a list, on which they wrote the causes of death of each disciple and labeled them as "Immortal Tribulation".
