I don't understand why the hundreds of thousands of demons at Lion Camel Ridge would contribute to Tang Sanzang's merit.

"Why?"

"Tang Sanzang wants to spread my scriptures to the Central Lands. If he doesn't have great merit, how can I pass on the scriptures to him?"

To my surprise, the Buddha thought I was asking why Tang Sanzang needed merit to obtain the scriptures!

I looked at the Buddha and said, "Why sacrifice the hundreds of thousands of demons at Lion Camel Ridge?"

"Demons?" Upon hearing my words, the Buddha let out a cold laugh. "You call that group of bloodthirsty monsters 'demons'? When I initially had you establish Lion Camel Ridge, it was to protect those pitiful demons. But what have you all done? Arson, murder, pillage, and all sorts of wickedness! If it weren't for the fact that you're my nephew, I would have taken you in right now."

The Buddha looked at me with a self-righteous and stern expression, as if the entire Lion Camel Ridge was reeking.
