For several days, I didn't see Lin Yan. The days in the safe zone were dull and boring, spending time either bragging with the elderly survivors or working as a laborer in the volunteer team.

Xiao Gu caught the attention of the volunteers, and her family, including Jia Yang, joined the volunteer ranks.

"Do you think they can find the zombie that mutated three times?" Jia Yang asked as he recorded the food distribution for today's survivors and chatted with me.

"I don't know," I shook my head. "Even if it's hiding, if the city releases a large-scale infrasound weapon, it probably won't survive."

Jia Yang fell silent for a while, then suddenly spoke somewhat sadly after finishing the final data entry. "Actually, I think... a zombie like that could be useful for labor. Isn't it like our little worker bees?"

Our thoughts and actions were disrupted by the commotion in the crowd at the center of the safe zone.

I faintly heard someone joyfully shouting:

"The army has returned in triumph!"

I stood outside the volunteer tent as the crowd parted to make way for a man who looked like a military officer walking towards me.

I glanced at Jia Yang, and we both nodded.
