Today is the fifth day since the zombie outbreak. The city is still functioning normally, with no power or water outages. However, people dare not use the water, at most they use it to flush the toilet.

In the past two days, not much has happened. Lin Yan is still researching that damn virus, and a helicopter responsible for patrol flies over the city every day.

In the first two days, you could still hear people shouting and fighting outside the residential area. But after two days, the city fell into silence.

What Lin Yan said was true. When the city no longer has anyone daring to make a sound, even the slightest noise becomes obvious. For example, at this moment, I can hear the sound of a zombie downstairs kicking a soccer ball.

If there were any specific changes in these few days, it would probably be that there are more zombies. Occasionally, some people who wanted to go out to find supplies failed to escape the encirclement of the zombie horde. Some people couldn't bear it and directly rushed downstairs, shouting at the zombie horde, "Come! Eat me! I don't want to live anymore! This damn doomsday! Eat me! I won't have to live in fear anymore!"

And so, he succeeded.

But such people are few. Most people stay at home obediently.

In these few days, I have also discovered some characteristics of the zombies. Once the sun is out, their movements become relatively sluggish. Compared to their speed at night, they run like slow turtles during the day. They fear light.

They can't see because the failure of their organs in their former life makes all bodily functions unusable. They can only be controlled by the virus parasitizing their central nervous system, mechanically executing the commands issued by the virus. Although they can't see, they are particularly sensitive to the sounds around them. Lin Yan said it's not because they can still hear, but because the virus in their central nervous system is especially sensitive to sound waves.

In simple terms, the virus residing in their damaged central nervous system is the control room of their bodies. Only these viruses can perceive everything happening around them and give action instructions to the zombies themselves.

There's one more thing: if they haven't eaten for about three days, they will become restless. They will cannibalize their own kind, and their mobility will slightly improve.

One day, I sat on the windowsill with a telescope, observing the wandering zombies downstairs. One particular little boy zombie caught my attention.

He had no legs and was wearing a tattered Ultraman shirt stained with blood. Unconsciously, he sat on the swing and played. The sound of the swing attracted the surrounding zombies' attention, but they ignored him when they realized he was one of them.

The next day and the day after, the little boy zombie continued to swing. I thought he must be unable to come down.

Will he swing for the rest of his life, I wondered.

But what happened next shocked me. The zombies that had been indifferent to him suddenly turned red-eyed. Although their movements were still slow, they were faster than before, although not as fast as at night.

The surrounding zombies swarmed him and devoured the little boy zombie completely. After the group of zombies in their frenzied state dispersed, I only found a pile of dark blue bloodstains and some tattered clothing fragments under the swing seat.

They ate the little boy to the bone.

In the following days, incidents of zombies cannibalizing each other occurred one after another, but the number of zombies did not significantly decrease.

We don't know if someone else went out to seek death again. In any case, a week has passed, and the government, apart from sending helicopters for patrol every day, has not conveyed any more news or instructions to us.
