I saw that a person had crawled onto the body of the man who was originally injured in the collision. Upon closer inspection, it became apparent that this person was not providing first aid, but was eating.

Upon witnessing this scene, the people below were instantly frightened and screamed repeatedly. However, their screams attracted even more infected individuals.

Unbeknownst to anyone, more than 20 strangely shaped infected individuals had gathered outside the wall. Their faces were green and their bodies were stiff and contorted.

Perhaps they heard the screams or perhaps the scent of blood stimulated them, but they went mad and rushed towards the residential area. Some of them even climbed over the community fence, which was over 2 meters tall and had spikes.

One of the infected individuals who had climbed over the fence dragged his torn clothes, blood flowing from his body, and directly bit the nearest person's neck.

"Run! There are monsters! Ah..."

The person who shouted loudly in the crowd was tackled by an infected individual before finishing his sentence. Those who were not agile on their feet became the first victims.

The ground floor instantly turned into a blood-stained battlefield.

I tightly gripped the curtains in my hands, trembling all over. Gradually, a strong sense of suffocation overwhelmed me. I suddenly snapped back to reality and realized that I had been so nervous that I forgot to breathe, nearly suffocating myself.

I gasped for air, taking big breaths, and then rushed towards the door.

I had only one thought in my mind: block the door, absolutely do not let these things in.

Just as I approached the door, I heard a loud banging sound coming from the corridor. It seemed that someone had run into the building. Were they survivors or infected?

Trembling, I opened the door access monitor. I had to see with my own eyes, no matter what it was. Because I knew that the more unknown imaginations, the more likely they would drive a person to collapse. It was better to face them directly.

The first person to appear on the screen was an unfamiliar man who seemed to be similar to me. He blinked and disappeared in an instant, moving very quickly, so he should be fine.

To my surprise, the second person was the man who tried to pry open the door last time. He ran up and stopped for a moment, seemingly thinking of something. Then he suddenly rushed over and kicked my front door.

The iron security door made a harsh sound, bang!!!

"Damn it, why isn't it ringing?!"

He fiercely kicked the door two more times, then continued cursing and ran upstairs.

At that moment, the elevator arrived. With a ding, the elevator door opened, and inside...

there were infected zombies feasting, along with the lifeless old man from the opposite side.

Perhaps the sound of the security door attracted the infected. They swayed towards me and then turned to climb upstairs.

I watched them approaching me with wide eyes, and they left a close-up, high-definition image on the screen. If I could survive by some chance, I would never forget this scene in my life.

Only after the infected disappeared from the screen did I slowly exhale a breath. My heart was still pounding loudly, as if reminding me that I was still alive.

I slid down the wall, trembling, feeling terrified. It was truly terrifying.

The infected were terrifying, but human nature was even more terrifying!

Afterward, I realized the intention behind the man kicking the door. He wanted to attract the infected with the alarm, buying more time for self-rescue. However, what he didn't know was that I manually triggered the alarm from inside. It wasn't automatic at all.

Of course, they didn't know that there was another me inside the door.

He wanted to kick the door for self-rescue, but he didn't expect that it would actually hinder his progress and waste his self-rescue time. I don't know if he eventually escaped or not. I belatedly discovered something.

"Why did he run upstairs? Isn't his home downstairs?"

I couldn't help but murmur. Last time, he used tools to go downstairs!

Unless...

He lived upstairs, which meant my home wasn't the first one targeted.

This person was not only a thief but probably also a habitual offender. I was really in danger last time, but luckily I managed to escape, luckily.

At this moment, I suddenly hopedthat the infected would take care of him. It may sound cruel, but after witnessing the chaos and violence unfolding outside, I couldn't help but feel a sense of justice. This man had tried to break into my home, endangering my life and the lives of others. If he ended up becoming the next victim of the infected, it would be a fitting consequence for his actions.

However, my focus quickly shifted back to my own safety. I needed to come up with a plan to protect myself and find a way out of this dire situation. The infected were still roaming the area, and it was only a matter of time before they would break into my building.

I knew I couldn't stay in my apartment indefinitely. I had to find a way to escape and seek refuge somewhere safer. I quickly gathered some essential supplies - food, water, a flashlight, and a makeshift weapon.

As I prepared to leave, I heard a loud crash coming from the floor above. It seemed like the infected had managed to break into one of the apartments upstairs. The sound of screams and the sickening noises of the infected feasting on their victims filled the air.

I had to act fast. I decided to make my way to the roof of the building. If I could reach it, I might have a chance to find help or at least get a better view of the surrounding area to assess the situation.

I cautiously made my way through the dimly lit corridors, avoiding any encounters with the infected. The stench of death and decay permeated the air, making it difficult to keep my composure. Fear gnawed at me, but I knew I had to stay focused.

Finally, I reached the stairwell leading to the roof. I climbed the stairs quietly, my heart pounding in my chest. As I approached the door that led to the roof, I could hear faint sounds of commotion from above.

I cautiously pushed the door open and peered outside. What I saw made my blood run cold.

The roof was overrun with infected. They were wandering aimlessly, their eyes vacant and their movements erratic. It seemed like they had gathered here, attracted by something or someone.

I realized that escaping through the roof was no longer an option. I needed to find another way out.

I retraced my steps back to my apartment, racking my brain for an alternative plan. Then it hit me - the basement.

If I could make my way down to the basement, there might be a chance to find an exit or a hidden passage. It was a long shot, but I had to try.

I descended the stairs once again, this time heading to the lowest level of the building. The air grew colder and damper as I went deeper underground.

As I reached the basement, I noticed it was eerily quiet. The usual hum of machinery and the flickering of lights were absent. It seemed like the power had been cut off.

I cautiously explored the dimly lit corridors of the basement, searching for any signs of an exit. After what felt like an eternity, I finally stumbled upon a heavy metal door tucked away in a corner.

With a surge of hope, I pushed the door open and found myself in a narrow tunnel. It was dark, damp, and smelled of mildew, but it was my only way out.

I ventured into the tunnel, relying on my flashlight to guide my way. The path seemed endless, and I couldn't shake off the feeling that something lurked in the darkness behind me.

After what felt like hours of walking, I finally saw a glimmer of light ahead. I quickened my pace, fueled by the prospect of escape.

As I emerged from the tunnel, I found myself outside, on the outskirts of the city. The chaos and destruction of the infected-ridden urban area loomed in the distance, but I was free from immediate danger.

I knew the journey ahead would be treacherous, but I was determined to survive. With a newfound sense of resilience, I set off into the unknown, hoping to find a sanctuary amidst the madness.
