I'm wrapped up like a zongzi now, yes, I'm out.

Because I'm not at ease without any self-defense stuff at home, after much thought, I decided to take a risk. It was past 4 in the morning, even the elders who usually exercise in the morning haven't come out yet, so it should be safe to go out now.

I also thought about whether zombies would suddenly attack me, or some strange neighbors would appear suddenly, so I grabbed the chopping knife from my home and stealthily entered the elevator.

Because it's an old community, there are no surveillance cameras in our elevator. The family across from mine are elderly people, and there are no cameras or smart locks outside their door, so I shouldn't be seen when I go out.

I nervously arrived on the first floor. I remembered that there was a fire axe in the fire cabinet on the first floor. Because this cabinet is usually unlocked, just sealed with a sticker, so after carefully tearing off the sticker, it was still there, not only that, there were also two fire extinguishers.

I took the fire axe and fire extinguishers into the elevator, then sealed the sticker back carefully.

I'm not sure if there is surveillance on the first floor, but the way I wrapped up, even if someone checks later, with 11 floors, it's not easy to figure out who took it. We'll see if they can track it down.

I brought the items back home, locked all the security doors, then locked the main door too. I won't go out before it's safe, and if those things still manage to get in, I'll just leave it to fate! I thought helplessly.

After putting away the items, I turned on the computer to continue browsing online information, reporting to my parents about the situation from time to time to reassure them.

Unknowingly, it was getting bright outside. The sunlight filtered through the curtains on the balcony, creating scattered spots of light. Because the curtains were not very thick, although the room was dim, it didn't affect any activities.

I decided to leave the curtains as they were, not pulling them open. I also didn't turn on the lights to avoid revealing that there were people in my house.

While I could see clearly, I first took inventory of my supplies. Surprisingly, I had plenty, enough for myself to eat for two to three months.

First, there were hotpot frozen foods, meat rolls, and meatballs in the freezer. At the bottom, there were frozen pork ribs, chicken legs, salted fish fillets from my mom, and two pieces of frozen tofu. In the refrigerator, there were vegetables I ordered, as well as cabbage, tomatoes, cucumbers, potatoes my mom previously bought, and two bottles of sauce.

The cabinets storing rice and flour were also full, with plenty of dried goods like noodles, tofu skin, wood ear fungus, red dates, etc., which could be prepared by soaking and cooking.

In addition to these, I also had two bags of snacks reserved for stress relief. By just eating these, it would be enough for a week. I even found a box of liquor hidden under my dad's bed. I never expected the strict wife to still dare to secretly drink, but now I caught her red-handed!

After organizing my current supplies, I felt a bit more confident about my future life.

After finishing all this, it was almost noon. I didn't know who was cooking, but the delicious smell wafted through the door and made me so hungry!

I tiptoed into the kitchen, and because there was privacy film on the glass, most people couldn't see inside. So, I decided to cook meals during the day from now on, and at night, not only would I not turn on the lights, but I wouldn't even light a fire.

Countless literary and film works have shown me that in the end times, often the human heart is more terrifying than the zombies. So, I considered this a preventative measure.

After lunch, I tidied up the house. In this special period, during the epidemic, I had to be conservative, so apart from my instant noodle wrappers, there was only a bit of rotten lettuce leaves in the trash. Even the old vegetable leaves that I used to ignore were chewed and eaten by me.

After everything was done, I called my grandparents' parents to report our respective situations, and then my parents cheered me on unilaterally.

After the call, I started watching online videos and also downloaded some post-apocalyptic movies on my computer. Art imitates life, and it's always good to learn a few things.

As I searched more, I noticed that terms like "post-apocalyptic," "virus," and "zombies" seemed to be blocked and couldn't be found online at all.

Some might say, why not use a VPN to access foreign websites? But as someone who doesn't even have a TV subscription, how would I know how to use a VPN to access foreign websites!

So after two hours of searching, I ended up with nothing but sore eyes.

The first day of quarantine passed like this. After having dinner, I found that all the major headlines on my phone were the latest news issued by the central government.

【Recently, outbreaks in multiple areas, after research, it is a new mutant virus with strong infectivity and rapid onset. So if anyone has a fever, greenish complexion, they must quickly call the prevention and control hotline.】

After the news came out, the whole country was shocked. Another new virus? And turning green? Isn't it supposed to turn red when someone is sick and has a high fever?!

There were many people online joking around with misinformation, but as someone who had already guessed the truth, I felt chills down my spine. Because the high-risk area announced happened to be in our county, although it's on the outskirts, it's still within the affected area.

I think our city must have been completely surrounded by now! The only thing I'm grateful for now is that my parents aren't at home. While my grandparents' house isn't too far from mine, it happens to be in the neighboring city.

Zombies of the apocalypse! How did I end up encountering this situation! This damn life!!
