Three months after the apocalypse, I unfortunately got infected with the virus.

When I woke up from a coma, I discovered that I had turned into a zombie.

Interestingly, I still had my consciousness and even retained some human habits.

Later, I learned from the news that I belonged to a higher intelligent type of zombie, a more advanced breed than the ordinary zombies who only knew "hunger and eating meat."

So, with my powerful brain, I stood out among the crowd of zombies and became the ruler of several communities, enjoying the luxurious ruins, managing a large group of zombie minions, and living a carefree and comfortable life.

Until one sunny afternoon, while leading a group of minions on patrol, a global broadcast suddenly sounded: [Beep... The following is an urgent news broadcast. Attention all university students in the post-apocalyptic era, in order to solve the problem of difficult employment for students, the zombie extermination plan is officially launched.

[Each zombie killed earns 1 point for university recommendation and government employment. The higher the hunting level, the more points you earn, especially for higher-level zombie brains, where one can directly enter the government system...]

The broadcast ended with a busy tone, and I stood frozen in place, stunned by the gaze of my minions. "Wang Defa, ever since becoming a zombie, I have been a vegetarian and have never attacked anyone. Even the minions below can only rely on capturing wild animals to satisfy their hunger."

What's even more unfortunate is that because I recently gave up meat, my physical abilities have fallen behind, and the newly arrived high-level zombies have taken away a large portion of my territory.

"Not only are zombies bullying me, but now humans want to kill me, steal my brain, don't they have a conscience?"

I could already imagine a group of college students, their eyes glowing green, shouting "They're awake, it's time to hunt," as they rushed in from all directions.

Unfortunately, I settled in a university town, and the road in front of me is the entrance to a famous university.

I weakly leaned against the nearest minion, my eyes filled with three parts numbness, three parts despair, and four parts sorrow: "Quick, help me..."

Before I could finish my sentence, I was thrown to the ground with a thud.

My minions suddenly began to uncontrollably drool and stagger forward.

A sweet fragrance filled the air, growing stronger and closer. I lay on the ground, my heart as lifeless as ashes, and turned my head to look.

Seven equipped male college students were looking at us eagerly and excitedly.

Tears of sadness involuntarily rolled down my cheeks.

"Wuwuwu, it smells so good... slurp, slurp..."

I nervously swallowed a few mouthfuls of saliva and turned my body to extend a helping hand to my minions, but war was about to break out.

In an instant, heads and bodies flew together, and blood splattered everywhere.

I watched as a well-dressed male student with glasses swung his arms, smashing the head of a certain zombie with a baseball bat, and then reached in and took out a yellow-green oval-shaped walnut.

Alas, attacking without hitting the face, exploding the head of a corpse, not only extracting the brain but also destroying its appearance.

"Huh, there's another live one here."

Someone kicked my leg, and I looked over to see a hungry and eager large knife, covered in black and red bloodstains.

"Wu yi!" I forcefully kicked my feet, performing a failed acrobatic move like a dying fish.

"Forget it, destroy it." I buried my head in my hands, feeling ashamed and laid flat on the ground.

Farewell, my carefree zombie life, no more early mornings, no more papers, no more fear of sudden death.

"Hey, this zombie is a bit strange?"

"Yeah, she didn't attack us just now."

"And she can speak... Hey, isn't she the intelligent zombie mentioned in the news broadcast?!"

A moment of silence fell, and the crowd remained motionless. I cautiously peeked through the slowly opening fingers.

"I'm already a senior, so this time let me have her." A tall and strong guy licked his lips.

White socks, a baseball uniform, obviously an athlete.

"You're dreaming. Intelligent zombies are already so scarce, andit's my duty to protect her." The guy with glasses stepped forward, his voice filled with determination.

I couldn't believe my ears. Was this guy actually trying to protect me?

"Hey, don't fight over me," I said weakly, raising my head. "I promise not to eat you, and I can even help you with your studies."

The group of college students looked at each other, unsure of how to respond.

"We don't need your help with our studies," the guy with glasses said. "But we believe that not all zombies are mindless monsters. We've heard stories of intelligent zombies who have retained their consciousness and humanity. If you're one of them, then we won't treat you like the others."

I blinked, trying to process what he had just said. These college students were willing to see me as more than just a brain to be collected? Maybe, just maybe, there was hope for me after all.

With a surge of determination, I pushed myself up from the ground and faced the group of students.

"My name is... well, call me Zara. Thank you for seeing me as more than just a threat. If you're willing to give me a chance, I promise I'll prove that not all zombies are the same. I'll help you in any way I can."

The guy with glasses smiled warmly. "Welcome to our group, Zara. We're the Zombie Hunters, and we believe in the power of redemption. Let's work together to create a better future."

I nodded, feeling a renewed sense of purpose. The apocalypse may have turned me into a zombie, but it didn't have to define me. With the support of these college students, I would strive to make a difference and show the world that even in the darkest of times, there was still room for compassion and understanding.
