I tightly pinched my hand to prevent myself from screaming, even consciously controlling my breathing.

After an unknown amount of time, I suddenly heard a "Ah!" sound coming from Chen Luolu's bed, followed by the sound of a plastic bag, which seemed to be right beside me.

Chen Luolu's screams grew louder, and the sound of the plastic bag stopped, replaced by the sound of dripping water.

"Drip."

"Drip."

...

I could clearly feel that the voice speaking by my bedside was moving away. Gathering my courage, I pulled myself out of the blanket and squinted my eyes, and all I could see was a vast expanse of white. I thought my vision was blurry because I had closed my eyes too tightly out of fear, so I opened them a bit wider.

Through the gap in the curtain, I saw a pair of feet. Those feet were not very clean, and even somewhat dark and cracked.

My heart skipped a beat.

The dormitory had a loft bed, and looking up from the gap in the curtain, I saw legs wearing red pants. It could only be someone who had hanged themselves in the dormitory.

"Is it you? Did you take my things?"

The voice seemed to come from above me. I instinctively looked up and saw a face suddenly appear at the top of my bed curtain. That face looked pale and lifeless.

I was so scared that I almost screamed. The face came closer and closer, almost touching mine. The eyes of that face were dull and lifeless. As it approached, I almost fainted.

"It's probably not you."

As these words fell, the face suddenly disappeared, and I also passed out from fright.

I was awakened in the morning by Zhang Wen's scream. I pulled open the curtain and saw that the ground was covered in soil, and on top of that soil, there was a layer of blood. Chen Luolu's body was hanging halfway off the bed, with one hand hanging down, and a cut on the wrist with dried blood. I suppose the dripping sound I heard last night came from there.

Before getting out of bed, I silently recited those absurd rules.

Chen Luolu violated the fourth rule, although Zhang Wen responded as well, it was clear that Zhang Wen did not blatantly violate any of the rules.

When I got off the bed, I saw a red plastic bag on my desk. Zhang Wen obviously noticed it too, but she only glanced at it briefly and quickly averted her gaze. It was clear that Zhang Wen also remembered the rules.

"What should we do now?"

"Notify the counselor."

While saying that, I called the counselor. After listening to our description, the counselor showed no surprise, hung up the phone, and appeared in the dormitory.

The counselor was small in stature, but had some unknown strength. She directly lifted Chen Luolu off the bed and before carrying her out of the room, she turned to us and said,

"Don't make a fuss. The school will handle it."

Zhang Wen was on the verge of collapsing and grabbed the counselor's hand:

"Counselor, I want to change rooms."

The counselor immediately broke free:

"You can't. You chose this dormitory yourselves."

At the same time, a line of text appeared on the counselor's back—

"Once the dormitory is chosen, no mid-term changes are allowed."
