In our senior year, our studious roommate, Li Mengyan, who was preparing for her graduate entrance exam, succumbed to extreme psychological pressure and chose to commit suicide by jumping off a building late one night just before the exam.
To comfort the emotions of the others in the same dormitory, the school made an exception and allowed me and three other girls to be granted graduate school admission without needing to take the exam.
