My parents saw Yang Tan coming and showed displeasure on their faces.

Yang Tan politely bowed and said, "Uncle Lin, Aunt Fang."

My parents were very distant, "Mr. Yang, it's hard for you to make this trip every year."

Then they added, "I remember, before Xiao Lin passed away, you two weren't close. For the sake of her reputation, it's better if you don't come again."

I exclaimed, "Dad, Mom, what are you doing? He's my friend!"

Unfortunately, they couldn't hear me and had a stern look, as if wanting to drive the guest away.

Yang Tan didn't insist, bid farewell politely, "Uncle, Aunt, take care of yourselves. If you need any help, feel free to ask me."

My mom coldly replied, "We have a son-in-law, we don't need help from an outsider."

She always resented Yang Tan for being too ruthless, blaming him for bullying my cousin and aunt, who were widowed and orphaned. His father passed away, and he immediately forced them out of the country.

My dad, still mindful of etiquette, held her back.

My dad said, "Aunt Fang didn't mean it that way, don't take it to heart."

Yang Tan nodded indifferently, then glanced in my direction behind him, and called out to Autumn to get up.

When he passed by Wen Yi, he stopped in his tracks.

He casually inquired, "A few days ago, I met Mr. Li who practices Taoism. He said three years ago, you consulted him about something. He asked me to say hello to you. How's your sleep now?"

Wen Yi's pupils slightly dilated in surprise, then denied it outright.

He said, "Mr. Yang must have remembered wrong, I don't know any Mr. Li. My sleep issues are due to depression."

Yang Tan repeated with a hint of sarcasm, "Depression? What a great illness."

Before Wen Yi could react, Yang Tan had already walked away with his dog.

I angrily followed him, is he sick? What does he mean by saying depression is a great illness? Why doesn't he get it then?

And what's the deal with that Taoist Mr. Li he mentioned? What's the connection to Wen Yi? Why did Wen Yi seem flustered?

My intuition tells me something is off with Wen Yi.
