I didn't expect to meet Li Zikai's mother and that unfamiliar woman so soon.

Three days after Li Zikai left home, I finished my work and ordered takeout.

Shortly after, there was a knock on the door. I shouted, "Just leave it at the door."

After three minutes, I checked the monitor outside the door to make sure no one was there before opening it.

As I opened the door, a pair of large hands grabbed my wrist. I was so scared that the takeout in my hand fell to the ground.

"Wife, I was wrong that day. I don't want a divorce!"

Before I could react, three people barged into my house - my mother-in-law, Li Zikai, and the unfamiliar woman from the monitor.

"Wife, I was wrong. Please forgive me!" Li Zikai knelt down as soon as he entered the door.

I was a bit confused for a moment, looking at this absurd scene in front of me.

Seeing me silent, the unfamiliar woman beside them spoke, "Sister-in-law, you were wrong. How can you not give face to your husband in front of his mother and relatives?"

Frowning, I finally had some impression of this woman in front of me.

At our wedding, Li Zikai and I had two ceremonies - one in our current city with colleagues and friends, and another in his village as requested by his mother.

At the village wedding, this woman came dressed in a fishtail evening gown that looked somewhat like a wedding dress.

Back then, I was upset with Li Zikai for inviting such an inappropriate person from his village.

Li Zikai explained that she was a distant cousin from his mother's side who might have been overly concerned about his wedding and dressed up for the occasion.

But she didn't cause any trouble and just attended the feast, so I didn't say anything.

But now...

I suppressed the anger in my heart and asked, "Li Zikai, what's the meaning of bringing two people back now?"

Li Zikai lowered his head, remaining silent.

His mother finally spoke up, "Shiqi, this is Li Zikai's cousin, Lin Sisi. She came here recently to look for work, so I arranged for her to stay here!"

One after another, they acted like they owned the place. I stood up, grabbed Li Zikai's arm, and headed towards the door.

"You go out, my house doesn't welcome you. Li Zikai, as I said before, don't let your mother come again!"

"If you're still like this, then both you and your mother can leave!"

Li Zikai, being a man, resisted my pull. Lin Sisi knelt down again beside me, "Shiqi sister, please, give me a place to stay. I promise to move out as soon as I find a job!"

Before she could finish, Lin Sisi started crying, pleading and kowtowing to me.

One person remained silent, playing dead, while the other cried and acted pitiful. Li Zikai's mother intervened, "Enough, let me speak! Zikai, apologize to Shiqi properly. How long will you keep quarreling as a married couple? Let Sisi stay here in peace. Your brother's home is her home too!"

"Shiqi, you're not young anymore. If you don't listen to your husband every day, what kind of wife are you? Times have changed. In our days, you could have been divorced directly!" My mother-in-law lectured with a feudal-era nanny-like attitude.

"Moreover, if you divorce now, won't you become a laughingstock in front of your parents?"

This statement indeed struck a chord with me.

I wasn't afraid of divorce, just worried about my parents' nagging. After all, I had stubbornly pursued this marriage, and my parents had warned me not to regret it.

Seeing my hesitation, my mother-in-law continued, "Don't blame me for being superstitious. I consulted an old fortune teller, and Sisi is a lucky star. Her appearance is excellent, and her presence will bring prosperity to your home!"

I never believed in such things, but I glanced at Lin Sisi. Her square face, chubby chin, and affectionate almond-shaped eyes were the type older generations would appreciate.

However, her hands were not behaving, discreetly tugging at Li Zikai's shirt hem.

When she noticed me looking, she quickly withdrew her hand like a startled deer.

Seeing the composed faces of the three, I calmed down.

After a moment of contemplation, I remained silent, tacitly agreeing to his mother's proposal.

They were all on the same side now, and if I pushed them too far, I wouldn't be able to handle it alone.

Moreover, I was curious about what they were really up to.
