The first time I saw Qi Jing was in the winter when I was twelve.

The sky was snowing heavily, snowflakes pressing on my shoulders.

Mom held my hand and took me to the new employer's house.

This employer offered high pay and good treatment.

It was through connections that my mom got this job.

Our footprints, one deep and one shallow, one big and one small, were imprinted in the snow.

We walked a long way before reaching the villa that looked like a castle.

The butler held documents and scrutinized my mom up and down.

"Good appearance, okay, you can stay."

Both my mom and I breathed a sigh of relief.

"Do you see the building next to it? There is an empty room on the second floor, where you and your daughter can stay, but remember not to offend the master and madam."

The butler's gaze fell on me, and I obediently nodded.

On the second floor of the villa, hidden in the wind and snow, a boy poked his head out.

He looked around boredly.

I looked up and smiled at the butler.

But I happened to see the person behind the butler.

He was wearing a neatly pressed suit, followed by a servant carrying fruits.

He looked at me with interest.

He seemed to be speaking, but I couldn't tell if it was directed at me or someone else.

Only the voice dissipated in the wind and snow.

All I could hear was the butler saying, "Remember, the most important thing is not to provoke the young master."
