In the second year of Jianwu, the Emperor Daqi, Xiao Jingxuan, fell critically ill and passed away. He was posthumously known as Ai.

Before his death, Emperor Ai wrote a self-blame edict to confess his mistakes during his reign for over a year.

He also left behind an abdication edict.

As Emperor Ai was young and had no heir, he remembered his sister, Princess San Gong, Xiao Jingxuan, who supported him to ascend the throne and made great contributions to the stability of Biancheng. Moreover, she worried about the people's welfare when he implemented harsh policies and excessive taxation, daring to offer direct advice and criticism, which alleviated the people's livelihood and prevented any major mistakes.

Therefore, Emperor Ai left an edict to pass the throne to his third sister, Xiao Jingzhao, as the emperor.

When the edict was announced, the whole country was in an uproar.

After all, it was unheard of to have a woman as emperor.

It was said that Princess San Gong hesitated when she received the edict.

But General Yan of the Xuanwu Army, the Prince of Zhennan, and the two ministers, Xu and Liu, jointly advised Princess San Gong to ascend the throne.

All the officials in the court also wrote numerous petitions.

They all expressed the same opinion.

And the attitude of the people was also quite interesting.

First of all, in the western region of Daqi, influenced by Biancheng, people were excited.

When they heard that Princess San Gong was ascending the throne, there were even celebrations in the countryside.

The second interesting thing came from the Northern Desert.

It was said that when there was a turmoil in the Northern Desert a while ago, the people there also enthroned their Princess Ye Luoduo as the queen.

This caused a stir.

Some people said it was inappropriate for Princess San Gong to become emperor.

So some people compared the policies implemented during Emperor Ai's reign with what I have done.

Everyone knows who truly benefits the people.

Others said that women are ultimately inferior to men and suggested that a member of the imperial family from a branch line should be made emperor.

But someone argued: "Have we, the great nation of Daqi, claimed ourselves to be a civilized country, yet we cannot compare to the barbarians of the North?"

Under the heavens, no one is exempt from being born from a woman.

Emperors, officials, generals, commoners, merchants... all are born from women.

Having received the grace of being born from women, why suppress and discriminate against women everywhere?

Those who held such views were left speechless.

And so, with the support of the majority of the people in the world, I ascended the throne.

I named the country Zai Chu.
