On Sunday, Mom took my sister and me to celebrate Grandma's birthday.

She bought a very large cake, a full 12 inches, made of animal cream, quite expensive.

She joyfully placed it on the table, but Grandma publicly said, "So foolish, the eldest only knows how to buy such stupid and ugly things."

Aunt promptly brought out a unique small cake, a plain white cake base, lightly decorated with blueberries and finely chopped leaves.

Grandma smiled, "Luckily the second child understands what I like."

Mom's face turned red, standing there not knowing what to do.

She found an apron and sleeves, bent over to start scrubbing the yard, bustling around.

Her expression became calm, as if she had found her place back at her mother's home.

At her mother's home, her fixed position since childhood was to do all the heavy work.

Because Grandma said she was far less skillful than her sister.

Aunt sneered, "On such a joyous day, why clean the yard, making it smell fishy."

Grandma also said, "Your sister is full of foolish energy, can't handle it all, so many guests and she doesn't know how to entertain, still a teacher, can't even present herself properly."

I don't know if Mom heard it, but my sister definitely did.

Yet she showed no reaction at all.

She smiled and pulled Aunt, asking about the brand of the coat she was wearing and where to buy it.

After dinner, the guests gradually left, Mom alone cleaned up the remnants on the table, swept the floor twice.

Then, with a satisfied look, she brought over a chair and sat down next to Grandma.

Aunt cut some fruit, arranging it into an exquisite fruit platter.

Mom hurriedly stood up to get fruit forks.

Aunt said, "Don't move, you just washed the dishes, your hands are oily, Mom definitely won't use the forks you touched."

Mom blushed, subconsciously wiped her hands on her pants.

Grandma rolled her eyes again.

Aunt, who was pregnant, asked Grandma for some money to stay at a postpartum care center.

Mom brought up her own experiences before and after giving birth:

She said, "Sister, why don't you go to the hospital I went to at the time, although it's private, the director is a close friend of our Lin family."

"When I was giving birth there, you saw it too, I didn't have to worry about anything. After giving birth, I had no breast milk, the nurses fed the two babies well."

"I just slept all day, woke up to eat, and after a month, the nanny carried the two babies home with me."

Aunt remained silent, poking an orange with a fork.

She kept poking, but didn't eat it, until the orange was pitted all over.

Grandma remained silent too.

Mom awkwardly stopped talking, looking pitifully at her mother and sister.

Grandma finally spoke, "You are indeed lucky."

"But don't get too proud, life is long, your brother-in-law may not necessarily fail."

Oh my! My uncle indulges in all vices, how could he possibly succeed?
