I went back to my mother's house and told her what had happened.

My mother was shocked, but she understood and supported my decision to divorce.

At night, I felt a dull pain in my stomach, so I asked for leave from the company and planned to go to the hospital for a check-up the next morning.

Just as I put down my phone, Cheng Jun called.

"Why did you go back to your mother's house, Qianqian? My mom said you want a divorce."

I was silent for a moment, trying to keep myself calm.

"Yeah, I can't accept the idea of our child having a younger uncle or aunt as soon as he's born."

"Your parents don't have a stable income, and if we have this child, we'll have to support them. We waited two years for our first child, and we carefully considered it before daring to have one. Having another child will disrupt all our future plans!"

I immediately heard Cheng Jun's frustrated and angry voice on the other end of the line.

"Shen Qianqian, I didn't expect you to be so selfish. Is this family only allowed to have children if you can bear them? Others having children will disrupt your plans?"

I rubbed my forehead, feeling a slight headache coming on.

"Cheng Jun, let's get a divorce. I'm not threatening you, I really want a divorce."

There was silence on the other end of the phone, and after a while, his threatening voice came through.

"I don't agree to a divorce. Don't even think about it. You better come home tomorrow!"

Before I could reply, he decisively hung up the phone.

I held the phone and recalled the past.

These two years of marriage, there really wasn't much to cherish.

Cheng Jun and I met through a blind date.

At the time, he seemed mature and stable, and our conditions were similar, so we got married after dating for half a year.

Only after marriage did I realize that he is a momma's boy, and he listens to everything his mother says.

Fortunately, he didn't have any major character flaws, and we lived our days in peace. I could accept it.

I thought I would live like this for the rest of my life.

But I didn't expect his mother to want to have a third child, shattering this illusion of peace.
