When I woke up, I was in the hospital. Su Ye was by my side, and our eyes met, filling the room with silence.

Seeing her rounder cheeks, a smile couldn't help but appear on my lips.

"Yezi," I called out, my throat still uncomfortable. "Are your parents treating you well?"

I had wanted to ask for a long time, but I never had the courage. I was afraid of receiving a negative answer, afraid of seeing negative emotions in her eyes.

But Su Ye's eyes were bright, and upon hearing my hoarse voice, she fed me a sip of water:

"They're good. Although we're not wealthy, we have enough for a living. They love me very much."

I lowered my gaze. It's good that her inner world is rich. Thankfully, she is loved.

"If, and I say if, you wanted a life like Liu Xuanyuan's, would you?" My trembling voice asked.

She looked up, contemplating, and then slowly shook her head, "I feel that my wonderful life doesn't rely on these intangible things."

My father pushed open the door, interrupting our conversation. He told me that Liu Jingliang had been arrested and had a good attitude. He was released after three days, and then he asked me about my plans going forward.

I had a heavy look in my eyes. It was time to put an end to this.

My email had been cleared, and the videos that Secretary Li sent me as evidence were all gone.

I checked the office surveillance and saw that it was Liu Xuanyuan who sneaked in and deleted them during the time Liu Jingliang was arrested.

What a fool.

In my old house, there's a safe in my bedroom. On the top shelf, there's a USB drive with backups of all my evidence.

After more than a decade of being together day and night, Liu Jingliang probably thought I was an ignorant fool. But his daughter wasn't a smart person either.

Liu Jingliang embezzled public funds, an amount reaching millions.

He spiked the tea in his father-in-law's cup.

During his wife's delivery, he conspired with Tang Xin to switch the babies, attempting to obtain the Fang family's property.

When the police found Liu Jingliang, he had a dead look on his face, as if he already knew why they came. However, when his crimes were read out, he was still shocked, as if his whole being was shattering, his eyes filled with disbelief as he looked at me.

I noticed the tea.

I discovered the secret he had hidden for many years.

He seemed to not understand why someone like me, who appeared to have no scheming nature, suddenly became enlightened.

I looked at him and said with emphasis, "Rest assured, Tang Xin will accompany you..."

I swallowed the rest of the words, leaving him with infinite room for imagination. Liu Jingliang finally collapsed, going into a hysterical frenzy like a ferocious beast.

His vulnerability was exposed, but unfortunately, I didn't care.

At the moment when the brakes failed, or when I saw the three of them smiling at me, all I felt was hatred.

When the police took Tang Xin away, I was at the scene. She cried loudly, denying any connection with herself, even scolding Liu Jingliang for taking her Liu Xuanyuan away when she was weak after giving birth, completely distancing herself from the situation.

I chuckled lightly. Compared to Liu Jingliang, she cared more about money.

Liu Jingliang, karma is unforgiving.

As for Liu Xuanyuan, with her parents imprisoned, she stood trembling two meters away from me, not daring to breathe.

I calmly took a sip of tea, feeling a slight tingling sensation in my throat:

"Move out."

She trembled all over, timidly calling out for her mother.

A sour feeling arose in my heart, a habit I had developed over the years when hearing her voice. I didn't look at her again.

I had given her enough money over the years for her to live well on her own. As for anything else, I couldn't and didn't want to give.

After all, I'm not a saint.

Liu Xuanyuan's room was a mess, a result of her furiousoutburst. I walked past her and headed to my old bedroom, where the safe was hidden.

Opening the safe, I retrieved the USB drive, which held all the evidence I had collected over the years. It was my insurance, my protection against Liu Jingliang and Tang Xin.

I returned to the living room, where Su Ye was waiting patiently. She looked at me with concern, sensing the heaviness in my heart.

"Are you okay?" she asked softly.

I nodded, trying to reassure her. "I'm fine, Yezi. It's time to move on from all this."

She reached out her hand, offering her support. "We'll face the future together, no matter what comes our way."

I held her hand tightly, drawing strength from her presence. With her by my side, I knew I could overcome any challenges.

Together, we left the house that held so many painful memories. We started a new chapter in our lives, leaving behind the darkness and embracing the light.

Over time, the wounds healed, and the scars faded. Su Ye and I built a beautiful life together, filled with love, trust, and happiness.

We pursued our dreams, supported each other's ambitions, and celebrated every milestone together.

As the years went by, the past became a distant memory. The pain and betrayal gradually lost their grip on me, replaced by gratitude for the present moment and the love that surrounded me.

I never sought revenge or wished ill upon those who had wronged me. Instead, I focused on creating a better future for myself and those I cared about.

Life had taught me valuable lessons about resilience, forgiveness, and the power of love. I carried those lessons with me, cherishing every day and living with gratitude.

As for Liu Jingliang, Tang Xin, and Liu Xuanyuan, their lives took different paths. They faced the consequences of their actions and made choices that shaped their destinies.

But for me, I found my peace and happiness in the arms of Su Ye, the woman who stood by me through it all.

And together, we lived a life filled with love, laughter, and the joy of overcoming adversity.
