I am a ghost, a ghost wandering in Chang'an in January of the 14th year of the Tianbao era in the Tang Dynasty in 2003.

I curiously wander on Zhuque Street, hoping to see the poets singing and drinking, the beautiful Hu Ji, and the majestic palace walls.

I did see the night scenery of the prosperous Tang Dynasty, the brightly lit Zhuque Street, and the bustling crowd.

I had a little hope of seeing a man named Cui Beihai, dressed in white, walking on Zhuque Street, wielding a sword against the wind, with a wine gourd hanging from his waist, his face haggard yet resolute.

I also hoped to see the poet Li Bai, whose words could paint half of the prosperous Tang Dynasty, even though he probably couldn't see me.

This is Chang'an. With a thought in my mind, I floated up into the sky.

From above, the view was even more magnificent. Lights outlined the splendid marketplace, and the bright moon shone above, illuminating this city that never sleeps.

Is today the Lantern Festival? That's why there are lights and decorations everywhere, and no curfew.

"Mom—look, there are a pair of eyes in the sky!" A child riding on his father's neck shouted in my direction. The woman looked in the direction he pointed, which startled me. Can they see me?

"Oh, that's a sky lantern! Look over here, what beautiful lanterns!"

I breathed a sigh of relief, but then I heard a faint laughter nearby, which shook me even more. Could it be that ghosts and spirits really exist in this time and space? What should I do? Can I still go back?

"A new colleague?" the voice continued. I calmed down a bit and looked around in confusion. Sure enough, not far from me in the sky, there were a pair of floating eyes, overlooking Chang'an City just like me.

"Um... Ah, esteemed senior, who are you? I am Li Yu, um, belonging to the Candle Dragon Group..."

"We are all the mirrors of the great Tang Dynasty. We observe Chang'an and dispel evil spirits."

"I am Cui Beihai, an envoy of the Mountain and Sea Department, responsible for dealing with demonic beings!"
