From now on, Jinshan Temple is no longer just me alone.

We rely on each other, one person and one snake.

I hung a longevity talisman around her neck, and she became the demon I tamed.

If we encounter other demon hunters, they can't take her away.

On regular days when I sweep the pagoda, she works hard pulling out weeds by the side.

Unfortunately, after ten years, not a single weed has moved.

I also learned her name - Bai Suzhen.

She had no one to rely on since she was young, not even a name.

After hearing a storyteller in the capital talk about "The Legend of the White Snake," she fell in love with the name Bai Suzhen.

To rescue Lady White from under Leifeng Pagoda, she traveled a long way from the capital to here.

I told her, what's actually under Leifeng Pagoda isn't Lady White, but an ancient demon.

She didn't believe it, saying it was a lie made up by my master because he was afraid I would sympathize with Lady White.

She would only believe it if I pulled out that umbrella and showed her.

I smiled at her, and soon after, she blushed.

This demon who had only been cultivating for a hundred years didn't understand human emotions at all.

Just by looking like this, the provocation was completely ineffective.

I once asked her, besides rescuing Lady White, what other wishes she had.

She thought for a long time, then timidly said:

"Retire in Jinshan Temple, or accompany you until old age."

That day, I didn't see her at all, locking myself in the main hall.

I continuously recited scriptures in front of the Buddha statue, constantly striking the wooden fish.

But my heart couldn't calm down, always thinking of that pink little snake.

It was a long time before I finally settled down.

During meditation, I saw the Buddha.

The Buddha said:

"That is the fate destined for you, uncuttable and unbreakable."

When I opened my eyes again, the Buddha statue had already cracked.

In the void, I heard a voice.

It was faint and elusive, but firm and powerful:

"When you can face this fate head-on, the Buddha statue will be restored."

I didn't know if it was the Buddha, I only saw a gray mist enveloping the entire Jinshan Temple.

And Bai Suzhen, who had returned from outside, ran towards me, smiling:

"It moved, even if it's just a tiny bit,

I know, it moved.

"One day, I will be able to pull it out."

With a grim expression, I ran to Leifeng Pagoda, luckily, the oiled paper umbrella was safe and the seal showed no signs of change.

Indeed, that great demon had been suppressed for five hundred years, even Sun Wukong would have run out of strength.
