Early in the morning, Gu Xiao and I left the bunker.

The body from yesterday was still lying outside the door.

As a precaution, we needed to check it.

However, when we went out, there was no one on the empty ground except for a pool of black blood.

I couldn't help but frown. This indicated that the zombie virus might not only spread through blood and saliva but possibly through the air as well.

Gu Xiao seemed to have thought of this too.

"It seems we need to be even more careful from now on. Even if the injuries are not fatal, there is a high chance of mutation."

I nodded and followed Gu Xiao.

Now we needed to check the truck.

Gu Xiao said that the man yesterday had come to the villa because of a navigation error.

But the villa was located on a hilltop with a forest behind it, so the navigation route didn't include it.

This reason was quite ridiculous for Gu Xiao, who was familiar with this place. That's why he remained cautious from the beginning, which eventually allowed him to make a counter-kill.

"Ranran, come and take a look at this."

I snapped out of my thoughts and walked over. It was a vial of medicine.

The label on it read "Sakura Language."

Coincidentally, I had studied some of it in college before.

"T-Number Human Test Reagent."

This was probably the thing he intended to give to Gu Xiao yesterday.

"Let's put it in the bunker's refrigerator for now."

There was nothing else in the car, but it seemed these things were somehow related to Sakura Country.

In the following days,

Gu Xiao and I survived on the stockpiled food.

The bunker had its own independent power system, with solar panels and generators providing electricity.

So even if the entire city was in a blackout, our living standards remained unaffected.

Gu Xiao supervised me to ensure I had three meals a day, and I even gained some weight.

"Gu Xiao, haven't you figured out the computer password yet?"

During these days, we also attempted to contact the outside world, but there was no response.

Out of boredom, Gu Xiao started trying to crack the computer.

However, he had tried all the possible passwords, but none of them worked.

"I've temporarily given up. This computer has an automatic self-destruct system. It will activate after a certain number of attempts. Now we only have three chances left."

'Bang.'

Just as I was about to reply, I heard a noise upstairs.

Gu Xiao pointed to the monitoring room.

The entire villa's surveillance system was located in the bunker.

I looked at the screen.

Several zombies had broken into the second floor of the villa.

With their pale gray skin and faces infested with worms, they roamed around, searching for our presence.

I looked at Gu Xiao.

Although the villa was not as secure as the bunker, the walls were much thicker than those of a normal house.

And these zombies had appeared out of nowhere.

Gu Xiao controlled the surveillance, watching the screen.

Until I saw that one of the windows on the second floor was half-opened, and my heart sank.

I distinctly remembered that I had closed that window.

This proved that the zombies were not completely mindless creatures...
