When the zombie outbreak occurred, I was working overtime at the company.

I've been sitting here for ten hours today, and there's a guy in a gray hoodie sitting next to me who's been here all day too.

It's his first day on the job, and I don't even know his name yet, but his spirit of overwork has ignited my competitive spirit. I silently made up my mind to leave later than him.

It's already half past ten, but this new employee is as calm as a seasoned monk, calmly typing on the keyboard without any intention of leaving.

"Bang!"

Someone fell to the ground.

I was startled and stood up to take a look. It turned out to be Cheng Tao from our department.

I quickly took out my phone and dialed 120 (emergency number in China).

"Wake up! Cheng Tao, wake up!"

Despite the efforts of people around him shouting loudly, Cheng Tao remained motionless.

"No pulse in the carotid artery." The guy in the gray hoodie squatted down next to him. "Looks like sudden death."

"I just called 120." I plugged my almost dead phone into the power source. "Do any of you have..."

Before I could finish my sentence, the guy in the hoodie skillfully started performing CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation).

"Spread out, no one is allowed to take photos!" The department director rushed over upon hearing the news. "What's happening? Did you call 120?"

I don't know what magical power the director's voice had, but just a second ago Cheng Tao was unresponsive, and now suddenly his Adam's apple moved, although his eyes were closed, it was clear that his eyeballs were rolling.

"Something's not right, no pulse or breathing." The guy paused, "Friend, can you hear me speaking?"

Cheng Tao opened his eyes.

But those were not human eyes, on the gray-white eyeball, there was a small black dot that could barely be considered a pupil.

I've only seen this appearance in escape games.

Some call him "undead," others call him "zombie."

I pulled the guy away in a hurry, "Be careful!"

Amidst the terrified screams of the crowd, Cheng Tao got up from the ground.

Without thinking, I grabbed my phone and ran out the door.
