【October 6th, Morning】

The bracelet ran out of power, and I took one last look at the time.

The weather in Haicheng finally cleared up, and the strange fish outside, lacking water and energy, started to move slowly. Even the zombies seemed dispirited.

The neighbors upstairs were implementing their planned action at this moment.

No one wanted to starve to death, so they chose to take a risk, targeting the supermarket across the street.

As for me, because I often work overtime, I had stocked up on some instant noodles. Roughly calculating, the remaining instant noodles would last me half a month, one bag per day.

The hallway was silent, and lying on my bed, I could almost sense the footsteps of those people reaching the upper floors.

Listening to them safely avoiding the sound of "crackling," they arrived downstairs.

Finally, I left the bed, except for mealtime.

When I walked to the balcony, I saw people from the opposite building also on their balconies. Everyone's gaze followed that group of brave individuals.

Hordes of zombies were aimlessly wandering downstairs, while the big fish lay exhausted on the damp lawn.

I recognized the man who was leading the group. His wife had just given birth to twins, and their home lacked everything at the moment.

He was dressed in fishing gear, tightly wrapped. He crushed the small parasitic fish with each step.

He used to make a living by selling fish and loved fish and the sea. Now he probably hated these things to death.

While walking, he gestured to the others who followed him, signaling not to be parasitized by the small fish. As long as they didn't make any noise, the other big fish and zombies wouldn't notice them.

People from both buildings held their breath and watched them safely approach the supermarket. The supermarket door was already broken, and they would easily get what they needed and come back.

Then others could follow suit, get food, survive, and wait for rescue.

The fishing gear man in the lead walked into the supermarket, and many people's faces showed rare smiles.

The next moment, those smiles froze on their faces.

"Welcome! Welcome! Welcome..."

The orange cloth doll hanging at the supermarket entrance twisted cheerfully, vividly welcoming the arrival of the brave.

At the same time, all the zombies turned their heads, their gray eyes rolling, rushing towards the supermarket.

Exclamations rang out, and the fish driven by the air rapidly swam towards them.

The air was like their water, and they were fast!

Meanwhile, those dozen or so people were desperately trying to block the door with the shelves.

They were too slow!

They would be bitten!

I stared at those strange fish.

There was no other choice!

"Crack..." I opened the window.

I grabbed a hanger nearby and started banging on the metal railing.

As expected, those big fish and zombies froze in place. The zombies frantically rolled their gray eyeballs, trying to identify the direction of the sound.

Suddenly, I felt a sharp pain in my forearm.

The hanger slipped, and I quickly withdrew my hand and closed the window.

Several mutated small fish were gnawing on my arm, devouring my flesh frantically.

The dark wound rapidly spread on my arm.

I didn't hesitate for a moment. I rushed back into the room and picked up the lighter on the table.

Aiming at the wound, I pressed it!

"Ah!"

The burning sensation combined with the pain from being bitten spread through my body. I screamed in agony but dared not extinguish the lighter in my hand.

Because I knew that once these strange fish successfully parasitized me while still alive, I would die.

But I didn't expect that the flames would make those strange fish wriggle their tails and burrow deeper into my flesh!
