In my previous life, I remember that criminal organization, which lived in a villa area not far from me.

Taking advantage of the night, I prepared my tools and set out.

The entrance of the villa area was still relatively quiet. At the moment, nothing could be seen, but there were fewer lights inside. Based on my memory, I found that villa where occasional figures could be seen moving in the brightly lit rooms.

After a while, the crowd erupted in cheers. The door opened, and people started walking out one by one, saying, "Quickly grab some supplies. The boss said that with supplies, we can recruit people, and with more people, we can monopolize things."

I had an idea in mind and quietly walked away.

The next day, the streets became even more chaotic.

More and more people realized that this disaster was not simple. The frenzy of looting supplies could no longer satisfy people's panic. Those with foresight had already started grabbing things in advance.

Order disappeared, and humanity was drowned.

When Du Yi came knocking on the door, through the peephole, I saw the timid Gu Xueyao.

I couldn't help but sneer. They really are a couple in love.

Even at this point, they still haven't given up on each other.

Gu Xueyao's clothes were dirty, and her face had bruises. She lowered her head and quietly followed behind Du Yi.

I asked him through the door, "Why did you bring her here?"

Du Yi looked anxious and glanced at Gu Xueyao behind him. He lowered his voice and pleaded, "Zhao Zhao, she's pitiful. After she went home last time, her parents kicked her out. Now she has nowhere to go and nothing to eat. How can a girl survive in this world alone? Zhao Zhao, you're both girls. You wouldn't just stand by and watch people die, right?"

"Du Yi, I think you still haven't figured out the situation. If you let her in, then there will be one more person to share the food I stored. That means you'll have to go hungry for one more day. I advise you to think it through."

Du Yi fell silent, and when he heard a loud noise, Gu Xueyao knelt on the ground, crying, "Zhao Zhao, please save me. I can help you find supplies outside. I won't freeload, I just beg you, don't leave me alone."

Du Yi sighed and softened his tone, "Zhao Zhao, please."

Good.

I lowered my head and opened the door, "Come in."

As soon as they came in, they breathed a sigh of relief, their eyes darting around.

"Zhao Zhao, how much did you store?"

"Not much, but enough for the four of us to eat."

"Four?"

I smiled faintly, "Didn't I mention it? My brother is also here. I wouldn't just save you two strangers and ignore my own brother, would I?"

Du Yi didn't say anything and bowed his head, pondering something.

"Alright, go take a shower. You're all covered in dirt."

I pretended to look disgusted and threw them some clean clothes. In the process, they also saw the stored supplies in the room, which, although not much for me and Lin Ke, was enough to shock them.

"Zhao Zhao, how...how did you get so many things? Did you already know things would turn out like this?"

"I'm not a fortune-teller. How could I have known? This place is a new residential area. I heard the property say that people would gradually move in, so I took the opportunity to open a small supermarket. These things were all prepared for that. If I had known earlier, do you think I would have only stored this little?"

Du Yi dismissed his suspicions and was overcome with joy.

"That's great, Zhao Zhao. You've saved our lives."

"Hmm." I looked indifferent, and Du Yi's face showed a hint of fear. He couldn't help but come closer and tried to hold my hand. "Zhao Zhao, I'm sorry for before..."

"Stop talking, Du Yi." I took a step back and stared at him. "If you say one more word, I'll throw you out of here."

Du Yi's face turned pale. "Okay, okay, I won't say it. Zhao Zhao, please don't be angry."

He seemed to think that I couldn't let go of him and that I had feelings for him just because I let him in.

Du Yi went to take a shower, and Gu Xueyao stood in the living room, showing a teary expression and whispered, "Thank you."

I ignored her, and in the afternoon, Lin Ke came back. When she saw the tall Lin Ke, Gu Xueyao smiled with a coquettish expression, the best and most common one.

Du Yi, on the other hand, looked resentful, pursing his lips without saying a word. Later, he pulled me aside and asked quietly, "Zhao Zhao, why have I never heard you mention having a brother?"

"What's it to you?" I coldly withdrew my hand. "If you want to continue living here, then keep quiet. Do you think you have the right to ask me anything now?"

He looked bewildered, as if he couldn't understand where this sudden coldness and ruthlessness came from.
