The base arranged ordinary rooms for us. Besides completing tasks, we can also challenge the esper in the base to improve our own ranks.

No one knows the identity of the prophet. Only those with Level 1 clearance can see the prophet. The quickest way is through a life-or-death duel.

Great, it's just a common arena for leveling up.

I quickly signed up. The next day, the lowest-level esper in the base targeted me, intending to earn points by taking my head.

The challenger who thought he had found a loophole in me was boasting arrogantly.

"Haha! I've had someone verify you. That pretty boy is the esper, right? If you're willing to serve me well on the stage, I can spare your life."

He kept blabbering, but I had already prepared a special item room. I threw him in, closed the door, and finally enjoyed some peace and quiet.

In reality, he disappeared as if into thin air, leaving everyone in shock.

One esper shouted, "I can still sense his aura. This woman can create a different dimension."

After a few flashy moves, the challengers behind him didn't dare to underestimate me. But I had even more tricks up my sleeve, and there were plenty of people falling into my traps.

Due to my frequent duels these past few days, someone quickly discovered my weakness. On my way back to my room, they planned an ambush and took away my tablet.

I restrained Jiang Yufeng's hand and said, "Don't fight. Private battles will result in disqualification."

They thought that without my tablet, I would lose my esper abilities. However, the system had already merged with me, and operating on the tablet was just a habit.

I had no intention of paying attention to them and turned to leave.

The base's broadcast suddenly announced, "Emergency mission in progress. Kill espers Yun Wan and Jiang Yufeng to receive a Level 1 reward."

A Level 1 reward was equivalent to five million. The onlookers, who had been in the shadows, suddenly turned green with envy, and various espers attacked us.

A small wormhole appeared beside Jiang Yufeng, devouring all the attacks.

Although I didn't want to take over someone else's base, they were after my life, so I couldn't blame myself for fighting back.

It hadn't been a wasted year. The moment I took action, a giant puppet appeared in the sky above the base, manipulating the entire structure like playing house.

Lingering ghost-like hands threw the attacking espers into mysterious rooms.

When I transformed the base into a Rainbow Pony, the person in charge of the base finally revealed himself. He was different from what I had imagined - just a sixteen-year-old boy.

His hands turned into blades, rushing at me with incredible speed. I definitely couldn't react in time since I had no combat abilities.

But Jiang Yufeng was different. With just a slight disturbance in the air, he immediately seized his opponent and held the boy in mid-air.

The boy quickly pleaded, "I was wrong, I was wrong. Spare me, and I'll take you to see the prophet."

I shook my head and said, "No, it's not right for minors to fight. Besides, I already know the prophet's location."

At this moment, the entire base map unfolded before me, and a lonely name silently awaited in the deepest underground.

I was certain that it was the prophet.

Jiang Yufeng and I walked straight to the lowest level. In the dim room, a huge temperature-controlled box emitted a faint light.

Inside was a woman with half of her body merged into a tree trunk. Her silver hair resembled the roots, extending into the soil.

"Welcome, my lord. I'm glad to see you pass the test," the woman said.

Who would have known that seeing the words "my lord" would bring back some PTSD.

"Hasn't it been a test since I entered the base?" I asked.

The woman nodded, "Yes, you are the only one who remains rational and kind, unaffected by the magnetic field of this land. I have been waiting for you for a long time."

Jiang Yufeng stood guard in front of me, wary. "But you issued the order to kill us earlier."

Wait a minute! She just said that this land has a special magnetic field that can make people losetheir rationality and kindness. Could it be that the orders to kill us were not actually issued by her?

The woman smiled gently, "I apologize for the confusion. The orders to kill you were not issued by me. They were part of the test to see if you could remain true to yourself in the face of adversity."

It all made sense now. The base was designed to test espers, to see if they could maintain their integrity and moral compass even in the midst of chaos.

"But why me?" I asked. "Why was I chosen for this test?"

The woman's silver hair rustled as if moved by an invisible wind. "You possess a rare combination of strength and compassion. You have the power to be a true leader and bring about positive change in this world."

I was taken aback by her words. I had never seen myself as a leader, but perhaps there was more to me than I realized.

"I will guide you and help you unlock your true potential," the woman said. "But first, you must prove yourself worthy. Complete the trials that await you in this base, and only then will you be ready for what lies beyond."

I looked at Jiang Yufeng, who nodded in support. We had come this far together, and we were determined to see this through.

"We accept the challenge," I said with conviction.

The woman's smile widened. "Very well. The trials will test your strength, your wisdom, and your ability to make difficult choices. Are you prepared?"

We nodded in unison. We were ready to face whatever challenges awaited us in order to fulfill our destiny and bring about a better future for espers everywhere.
