The first day of the zombie outbreak.

I took a sick leave from school because of a fever.

The school doctor gave me three days' worth of medicine and said if the fever continues, I'll have to go to the hospital for intravenous fluids.

Just as I returned, I saw an ambulance parked downstairs from my dormitory.

The girl being carried onto the ambulance was covered in blood and unconscious.

As I looked closely, I realized it was Xiao Hong from the neighboring dormitory.

"Why is she spitting so much blood?"

"Could it be some infectious disease?"

"Don't scare me, I had some dried squid she brought from her hometown yesterday."

"Boom—"

The newly started ambulance suddenly veered off the main road and crashed into a tree by the side of the road.

"Ah! Help!"

"It's... it's eating people!"

As the ambulance door opened, the blood-soaked Xiao Hong went mad like a wild beast, crazily biting the doctors beside her.

An injured nurse, covering the wound on her neck, jumped off the car and fainted after taking a few steps.

But a few seconds later, she suddenly convulsed, abruptly jumped up, and started biting the classmates passing by her.

It only took a few minutes.

The number of injured people kept increasing, as did the number of mutated individuals.

The once clean campus gradually turned red with blood.

My ears were filled with screams and roars.

I didn't dare to look any longer; instinctively, I ran back as fast as I could.

Once back in the dormitory, I immediately locked the doors and windows.

Soon enough, the previously quiet dormitory building became chaotic and noisy.

The screams and roars had moved from outside the building to inside.

I sat paralyzed on the bed, taking a deep breath.

I took out my phone and immediately sent a message to my roommates who had the early morning class.

【Zombies have broken out, the dormitory building is currently unsafe, find a place to hide quickly!】

Qi Qi: 【Zhou Zhou, did you start watching The Walking Dead so early in the morning? What season are you on?】

I stood by the window and took a photo of the horrifying scene outside.

Qi Qi: 【Oh my god?!】

Zhua Jie: 【There's trouble near the gym, I'm hiding in the lounge! Be careful of infected people around you, find a place to hide quickly!】

Qi Qi: 【Oh no, Shan Shan suddenly started spitting blood...】

Zhua Jie: 【She's likely to mutate, you need to escape quickly.】

My phone kept receiving distress messages from various campus groups.

The campus broadcast also started playing emergency evacuation notices.

Half an hour later, the entire school fell.

Half a day later, the entire city of Yun Cheng fell.

The lucky ones temporarily found places to hide.

The unlucky ones had already become zombies chasing after flesh and blood.

At night, I couldn't contact any of my roommates anymore.

The people hiding in our dormitory building formed a group of survivors.

Only a dozen or so people remained in the group...

I had a fever all night, clutching the only fruit knife I had, in a dazed and heavy sleep.
