I woke up slowly and smelled a strong scent of blood before even opening my eyes.

I lifted my eyelids slowly and looked around. The scene I saw almost made me faint again.

The familiar Bai family courtyard was filled with bloodstains.

Grandma Bai and Bai Ling were lying in the pool of blood. There was a dagger stuck in Bai Ling's chest, the one she gave me.

I rushed over like a madman and held Bai Ling in my arms. Her body was cold, she had been dead for a while.

Tears silently streamed down my face. Although this woman had ulterior motives and didn't truly love me, my love for her remained unchanged.

A hand patted my shoulder twice, and Liu Fei also woke up.

He didn't say anything. Any comforting words would be futile at this moment.

A loud explosion, and the courtyard door was kicked open forcefully.

Bai Min rushed in, followed by a group of villagers.

She had disheveled hair and swollen eyes. Pointing at us, she shouted in a trembling voice:

"They killed Grandma Bai and Bai Ling!"

The villagers' eyes were bloodshot, and the anger in their eyes could turn us into ashes.

I looked at our clothes stained with blood, knowing that it was impossible to defend ourselves.

Liu Fei gasped for breath and shouted at Bai Min:

"Min'er, why did you do this!"

Bai Min's sharp voice interrupted him:

"Burn them! Avenge Grandma Bai and Bai Ling!"

The villagers rushed forward, and Liu Fei was quickly overwhelmed by their numbers.

I didn't resist, allowing them to pin me to the ground.

As Liu Fei and I were being escorted by the villagers, I saw a cold smile on Bai Min's lips.

We were bound together like a zongzi and locked in an empty room.

After the funerals of Grandma Bai and Bai Ling, we would be taken to the execution platform and burned to death.

Lying on the ground, neither of us spoke.

A faint sobbing sound came, and Liu Fei, the rough man, was actually crying.

"Damn it, I finally fell genuinely in love with a woman, and she deceived me twice."

Liu Fei was like a hurt child.

"I wish Bai Ling could come back to deceive me again."

"You're really a hopeless romantic."

"Likewise."

We, the troubled brothers, bantered with each other, completely unaware that the door had already been opened.

By the time we noticed, Bai Min had been standing at the door for quite some time.

My blood rushed to my head when I saw Bai Min, and I looked up at her angrily:

"Why did you kill Grandma Bai and Bai Ling? Do you not have any humanity at all?"

Bai Min had a smile on her face as she walked up to me and crouched down.

"Why do you assume that Bai Ling is dead?"

"My dear little fish?"

My expression froze instantly. "Little fish" was Bai Ling's term of endearment for me. How could Bai Min know?

"You're Bai Ling?" I asked with uncertainty.

"You guessed right."
