"Why did you move to Litang Xin Village? Wasn't the place you lived in before closer to the company?"

Officer Ding poured me a glass of cold tea to calm me down.

"Saving money! The rent in Litang Xin Village is half the price of the houses near my company. Since I don't have a girlfriend anymore, I want to save more money and then go back to my hometown for a blind date. I'm getting older and want to settle down."

I spoke honestly.

"You're quite talkative."

Officer Li chuckled while taking notes.

"Just trying to ease my mind."

Talk more, so I won't keep thinking about that decapitated head.

"You have a remarkable sense of smell! The smell inside the load-bearing wall, even our police dogs in the bureau might not be able to detect it, but you can smell it almost perfectly."

Officer Ding's expression became somewhat serious.

He seemed to doubt whether my nose was really that sensitive, but he intentionally praised me, clearly trying to get information out of me.

I hope they don't consider me the prime suspect in the case!

"But I didn't smell the powder inside."

I also humbly added.

"Actually, you did smell it. You just didn't know how to describe it." Officer Ding patted my shoulder. "Don't be nervous, we're just following the procedure and asking you some questions. We won't accuse you without reason."

"I'm pretending not to be nervous." I forced a smile. "It's my first time in a police station."

Officer Li looked up at me again. "It's our first time encountering such a big case, thanks to you, we have a chance to make a significant achievement."

No wonder these two officers are so excited and eager.

Compared to my state of mind, it's like night and day.

The landlord was also brought to the city police station.

He was even more bewildered than me.

He couldn't believe that not only was there a murder in his house, but also a drug case.

"You can stay in a hotel for now!"

After questioning, Officer Ding took me to the accommodation arranged by the city police station. I knew they wanted to be able to find me easily and ask me about anything related to the case.

"What about my things in the rental house?"

I still have to go to work!

"We'll pack them up and send them to the hotel tomorrow. Also, remember to keep an eye on your phone. We may need to contact you at any time. Sorry for the trouble," Officer Ding apologized.

"Okay!"

I sighed softly.

After Officer Ding left, I sat on the bed in the hotel room, too afraid to sleep.

Because every time I closed my eyes, I would picture that head inside the black plastic bag.

I constantly felt as if the head was floating around me, it was incredibly terrifying.

I took out my phone and played games, but I couldn't resist the drowsiness. Eventually, I fell into a light sleep.

In the morning, if it weren't for the continuous ringing of my phone, I would have slept until noon and forgotten about the deduction from my salary for being late to work.
