When I regained my senses, some of my loyal fans flooded into Dao Ren's livestream room, asking him to find a way to save me.

Dao Ren looked at the continuous stream of gifts and grinned from ear to ear.

He readily agreed.

"My dear female donor, I said we have fate. I will do my best to ensure your safety," he said.

"Fate?" I replied, somewhat sarcastically.

But upon hearing his words, I felt relieved.

"Beibei, what are you doing?"

I was startled.

I quickly turned around and saw the man who had been sitting at the dining table behind me, seemingly appearing out of nowhere. His breath sprayed on my neck, cold and venomous like a snake.

I nervously flipped the screen of my phone and forced a smile.

"I'm not doing anything. How did you come in? The pork heart soup will be ready soon. Wait outside for a moment."

I didn't dare to look up at him because in that moment of fright, I saw a trace of blood at the corner of his mouth. I didn't know if he deliberately let me see it or if he hadn't cleaned it properly.

I lowered my head and pushed him out of the kitchen. As I locked the door, I let out a sigh of relief.

But then I noticed a moist liquid dripping onto my face, and I looked up.

Sun Jianing was leaning against the kitchen door frame, looking at me. There were a few suspicious droplets of liquid near his mouth, like...

Saliva.

"Beibei, come out quickly. I can't wait anymore," he said.

I suddenly backed up until I reached the kitchen counter. Before I could react, Sun Jianing had already left the door frame.

I let out a breath and looked at the barrage of bullet comments on my phone. No one doubted anymore that this man was a bloodthirsty corpse.

【Did you all see that? The look in the bloodthirsty corpse's eyes clearly treated the anchor as food.】

【So scary! I dropped my phone when the anchor and the bloodthirsty corpse locked eyes.】

【Lying in bed at midnight watching the anchor. May the god of blankets protect me and the anchor.】

Dao Ren, who was on the other side of the video call, didn't speak anymore. He just kept sending me private messages.

【This bloodthirsty corpse disguised as your boyfriend has already eaten your boyfriend's heart and consumed a lot of blood. He also ate the hearts of several small animals.】

No wonder the number of stray cats and dogs in the neighborhood has been decreasing. I thought they were hiding somewhere to seek shelter from the cold.

【His power is not very strong at the moment, but if I'm not mistaken, your birthday is just after midnight. That's when your Yin energy is strongest, which is a big boost for him.】

【You need to keep him busy until midnight. He won't do anything to you before then. Hold on for about an hour. I'm already rushing over to your place.】

【What is the bloodthirsty corpse afraid of? Garlic?】 I typed and sent.

【...】

【He's not a vampire!!!】

【In ancient times, people who unearthed bloodthirsty corpse graves found soil as red as blood. It coexists and conflicts with cinnabar.】

【Cinnabar can temporarily trap the bloodthirsty corpse, but it can't harm him. Instead, it will enrage him. Avoid using cinnabar to provoke him unless it's absolutely necessary.】

I glanced at the time on my phone.

I still had time.

I held a steaming bowl of pork heart soup in front of "Sun Jianing".

Seemingly uncomfortable with cooked food, he instinctively avoided it at first, wrinkling his nose before finally accepting it.

"Beibei, your culinary skills have improved. It smells really good," he said.

Although he praised me, when I handed him the spoon, he hesitated.

"What's wrong? Do you think I didn't cater to your taste?"

"No, of course not. Beibei, the things you make have always been my favorite. It's just that..." he trailed off.

I looked at him expectantly, urging him to continue.

"I just realized that I forgot to bring my chopsticks," he said sheepishly.

I smiled and fetched a pair of chopsticks from the drawer, handing them to him.

He took the chopsticks and started eating the soup. I watched him intently, trying to gauge his reaction.

As he took his first bite, I noticed a subtle change in his expression. His eyes widened slightly, and he seemed momentarily stunned.

But just as quickly as it appeared, the change vanished, and he resumed eating as if nothing had happened.

I felt a glimmer of hope. Maybe the pork heart soup was affecting him somehow.

Time seemed to slow down as I anxiously waited for the minutes to pass. I kept a close eye on him, ready to take action if necessary.

Finally, the clock struck midnight.

As the last chime echoed through the room, Sun Jianing suddenly froze.

His body convulsed, and he let out a bloodcurdling scream. The sound was otherworldly, a mix of agony and rage.

His skin started to bubble and peel, revealing a grotesque, inhuman form underneath.

I took a step back, horrified, but also relieved that Dao Ren's plan had worked.

The creature that had once masqueraded as Sun Jianing lunged toward me, its elongated claws reaching out to tear me apart.

But before it could reach me, Dao Ren burst into the room, holding a bundle of burning incense.

He thrust the incense toward the creature, and it recoiled, screeching in pain.

"Stay back!" Dao Ren shouted, his voice filled with authority.

He circled the creature, chanting in a language I couldn't understand. The incense continued to burn brightly, emitting a pungent odor that seemed to repel the creature.

With each step Dao Ren took, the creature grew weaker, its movements sluggish and uncoordinated.

Finally, with a final burst of energy, Dao Ren thrust the incense into the creature's chest. It let out one last agonized scream before disintegrating into a cloud of ash.

I stood there, trembling, as the reality of what had just transpired sank in.

Dao Ren walked over to me, his face filled with concern.

"Are you alright?" he asked, placing a hand on my shoulder.

I nodded, unable to find my voice.

"You're safe now," he reassured me. "That creature won't be able to harm anyone else."

I looked at him, grateful beyond words.

"Thank you," I finally managed to say.

Dao Ren smiled warmly.

"It was my pleasure to help. But remember, the world is filled with both light and darkness. Stay vigilant, and never underestimate the power of fate."

With those words, he turned and walked out of the room.

I watched him leave, feeling a mix of emotions. I had been saved by a livestreamer who claimed to have supernatural abilities.

As I reflected on the events of the night, I couldn't help but wonder about the true nature of Dao Ren and the world he inhabited.

But for now, all I could think about was the immense gratitude I felt for his intervention.

I vowed to be more cautious in the future, to protect myself from the darkness that lurked in the shadows.

And perhaps, just perhaps, I would continue to watch Dao Ren's livestreams, curious to see what other mysteries and adventures awaited.
