In order to welcome Jiang Yan's arrival, Grandma got up at five in the morning to buy groceries.

Grandma and I were busy all morning and finally made a more sumptuous lunch than last time.

But, waiting left and right, Jiang Yan still didn't come.

Seeing Grandma's disappointed look, I anxiously called Jiang Yan, but all I heard on the other end of the phone was a cold electronic voice:

"Sorry, the number you dialed is currently busy..."

Time passed slowly.

I anxiously leaned against the window, looking around, while Grandma kept reheating the food.

Until it got late in the evening, and Jiang Yan still hadn't shown up.

Grandma sat on a stool, dejected and silent.

I couldn't help but comfort her, "Grandma, Jiang Yan just contacted me and said there's an urgent matter at work, so he can't come today. Let's eat first!"

Grandma sighed and put a big piece of tender fish into my bowl:

"Silly child, you should eat even if you're busy!"

"Yunyun, why don't you take the braised pork to Jiang Yan later? He loves it!"

I buried my head and took a big bite of food, holding back my tears.

"Okay, Grandma, I'll take it to him later."

Upon hearing this, Grandma happily went to the kitchen to pack the food for Jiang Yan.

My tears fell into the bowl, but I swallowed them down.

In fact, Grandma had been ill for some time.

- Late-stage gastric cancer.

The doctor said there was no point in treatment anymore.

It's better to let the elderly leave in a dignified manner.

To alleviate Grandma's pain, I used the money I saved from two years of work to buy various imported painkillers for her, hoping that the disease would be gentler to Grandma.

And I proposed to Jiang Yan because Grandma said:

"Yunyun, when you marry Jiang Yan, Grandma will be at ease!"

"Grandma's Yunyun, such a well-behaved little angel, should be well taken care of..."

Perhaps she was tired, Grandma packed the food for Jiang Yan and leaned against the head of the bed to rest.

I obediently stayed by Grandma's side.

Grandma lovingly held my hand and vividly recounted stories from my childhood.

From my first words, first steps, to my first day of kindergarten, first award...

And then to the day I received the acceptance letter from a prestigious university, and the job offer...

Tears welled up in Grandma's eyes as she talked about each cherished moment.

Watching Grandma's extraordinary excitement,

A thought suddenly flashed through my mind: "A brief return to light."

As she spoke, Grandma seemed exhausted.

She placed her rough yet warm hand on my cheek and murmured:

"Grandma really wants to see Jiang Yan again."

"Grandma has a few things to tell him so that Grandma can entrust my Yunyun girl to him with peace of mind..."

Seeing the gradually dimming light in Grandma's eyes, my heart skipped a beat:

"Grandma, please, just wait a moment, wait for a moment, I'll go find Jiang Yan!"
