I dragged my weary body back home.

My elderly grandmother, holding a ladle, slowly approached me.

"Yunyun, you're back. Did you have fun with Jiang Yan today?"

I sniffed and rested my head on my grandmother's shoulder, which smelled of oil.

"Yes, I had fun. I had a great time."

My grandmother's wrinkles gathered as she smiled. "Good, good. If Yunyun is happy, then I'm happy too!"

"Yunyun, when will you invite Jiang Yan to our house? Grandma will make his favorite braised pork!"

My grandmother's tone carried a hint of anticipation.

Jiang Yan had been to my house once before.

To welcome him, my grandmother went out early in the morning to buy ingredients and cooked a feast even grander than during the New Year.

But while my grandmother was cooking, Jiang Yan wore a disgusted expression and constantly wiped his hands with tissues.

Jiang Yan thought my grandmother was a scavenging old lady, full of germs, and even the food she cooked was dirty.

Watching my grandmother busily working in the kitchen, I almost cried, pleading with him:

"Young Master Jiang, since you're already here, can't you just pretend? My grandmother worked so hard to cook for you!"

In the midst of my begging, Jiang Yan reluctantly agreed.

And my grandmother, still foolishly believing that Jiang Yan loved the braised pork she made.

Little did she know that Jiang Yan would clear his throat and spit it out as soon as he left the house.

My eyes burned, and my voice became choked:

"Grandma, Jiang Yan said he would visit you during the New Year!"

My grandmother's face lit up with joy. She gently patted my back:

"As long as Jiang Yan is accompanying my Yunyun, Grandma can rest assured."

My words were stuck in my throat.

Ultimately, I didn't tell my grandmother about the falling out between me and Jiang Yan.

My grandmother's health was deteriorating, and she would worry if she knew.
