Gu Xing'an called me, and I looked at the words flashing on the screen and chose to answer.

"Darling, are you asleep?"

Gu Xing'an's tone carried a hint of probing, which annoyed me.

"Yeah, when are you coming back?"

"I'm drinking with them today, so I'll be back later. You don't have to wait for me."

I hung up the phone but couldn't fall asleep no matter what.

In the middle of the night, I heard some movement at the door. It should be him taking off his shoes, as there were no loud footsteps.

"Okay, I'll make it."
