The clock on the wall pointed to 4 when Xie Jiasen finally returned.

He casually placed the flowers in his arms at the entrance, took off his team uniform, and sat down on the sofa.

"Why aren't you happy despite winning the championship?"

I floated to his side, carefully looking at his face.

Xie Jiasen naturally couldn't hear me speak.

He just kept his head down, his gaze fixed on the phone on the coffee table.

In the silent room, the ticking of the clock was particularly clear.

Time passed minute by minute, and the phone remained silent.

As the sky gradually brightened, Xie Jiasen suddenly sat up straight and unlocked his phone.

"It's so early, who are you calling?" I asked to myself.

He pressed and held the number 1 key, and a string of numbers was automatically dialed.

I was stunned for a few seconds.

That was the number I used when I was alive.

After 20 seconds of ringing, short but long, the sound of the call being answered finally came from the phone.

Xie Jiasen spoke first, "Shen Zhi, you saw that I won the championship, right?

"So, have you considered what I said?"

After he finished speaking, no one answered his question.

I lowered my head and saw Xie Jiasen's hand on his knee slowly clenched into a fist.

"Shen Zhi, I know you can hear me, stop pretending to be dead," he said hoarsely.

Then, a man's sigh came from the earpiece, "She's not pretending to be dead."

Xie Jiasen fell silent for a few seconds, "You are... Pei Ke?"

He wanted to say something more, but Pei Ke interrupted him, "Shen Zhi... she... really died."

Upon hearing this, Xie Jiasen let out a cold laugh.

Perhaps he thought Pei Ke was intentionally deceiving him, or perhaps he thought I didn't want to see him and casually made up such an unbelievable excuse.

"Fine."

Xie Jiasen walked to the balcony and looked up at the slowly rising sun outside the window:

"Since you say Shen Zhi is dead, then tell me, how did she die?"
