My home.

My parents haven't contacted me for a week.

On the eighth day, my mom couldn't resist.

"Has Li Man arrived at school early? She didn't even give us a call to let us know she's safe, she's such an ingrate. If I don't contact her, she doesn't even recognize me as her mother!"

My dad searched through the contacts list, finally found my profile picture.

He sent me a voice message, no reply.

He called me, the prompt said, "Hello, the number you dialed is not in the service area, please try again later."

My dad angrily sent me a message.

"You brat! Playing hide and seek? Look at your lack of ambition! Rebellious since childhood, rebellious for ten years and still not changing!"

"Now you have grown wings, don't need to rely on me and your mom to support you, so you just fly away, cut off relations with us, and won't take care of us in old age, right?"

"Your selfish thoughts, you think I don't know? Let me tell you, even if you run to the ends of the earth, I will still bring you back!"

My dad vented, waiting for my resistance.

However, I did not respond to him.

I would never be able to respond to him again.

Another week passed, my mom started to contact me.

Calling, messaging.

I seemed to have evaporated from the earth, no news at all.

Suddenly, my mom realized the seriousness of the problem.

She took my dad to the police station to report a missing person.

"How long has your daughter been missing?"

My mom looked at the calendar.

"About... a little over half a month?"

The officer was shocked, "Missing for half a month? And you just thought of reporting it now? Normal people would go crazy looking for their missing family member after three or five days, are you really her biological parents?"

My dad justified loudly, "Comrade, you don't know, this daughter of mine is useless, still rebellious. She's not good at work, has no partner, nothing at all."

"My wife and I often praise her cousin, ask her to learn from her cousin. But this child, smashed the pot and doesn't care, still wants to run away from home and go to the mountains for voluntary teaching."

"We didn't care, let the girl make her own choices, she wants to endure the harshness of the world outside, let her be happy. When she gets cheated, or suffers, she will listen."

My mom also complained heartily, "Li Man has been troubling since childhood, which parent doesn't want their child to shine? She doesn't understand the strictness of parents!"

"I have a hot temper, speak harshly, and she just wipes away her tears alone. Everywhere she looks like a loser, I thought, let her go out of town for some experience, it's good."

"Who would have thought, after going out of town, she lost contact. Can you please help find her, if she's not doing well outside, she should come home. Get married early while still young."

The officer took down the statements and began a comprehensive investigation.

Three days later, they contacted my parents again.

"According to our investigation, the village of West Suburb does not recruit volunteer teachers. Your daughter may have been deceived through some online job channels."

My parents were greatly shocked.

The officer continued, "We have contacted the local police in West Suburb, where your daughter went, it belongs to the remote mountainous area with great difficulty in search."

"As for that village, it has been deserted for many years. Your daughter can only be listed as a missing person, you can register your fingerprints, and in case of any news, contact us at any time."

My parents were completely stunned.

They never thought that the last time they argued, it would be the final moment in my life with them.

They returned home and had a big fight.

My dad blamed my mom, "It's all your fault! Can't give birth to a son! Didn't raise the daughter well! I must have had bad luck for eight lifetimes marrying you!"

My mom cursed my dad, "You always looked down on our daughter, never cared for her, otherwise how could our daughter go missing? She was driven away by you! It's because of you she's gone!"

Later, they started giving each other the silent treatment.

And then, they got divorced.

My dad started going on frequent blind dates, the first thing he said to the women he met was: I want to have a son, do you agree?

My mom bought a train ticket to the far West Suburb, embarking on the long journey to find me.
